She is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with the breastfeeding network since 2016. Carissa sees clients of all ages, and her interests lie in pediatric nutrition as well as disease specific adult nutrition!

Nikki Morine, RD

Nikki is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition and Dietetics Internship. She completed her internships with Diabetes Canada, St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, and Saint John Regional Hospital. Nikki has worked in acute care in New Brunswick, community/sales in Nova Scotia and in Long Term Care in both provinces. Currently she is working as a clinical dietitian/department manager in LTC in NS and has been for the past 5.5 years. Her role encompasses swallowing assessments, nutritional assessments, managerial duties, and teaching Nutrition with Dementia and Feeding with Sensitivity as well as other
topics. Outside of her career, she enjoys her children, reading, working out, baking, and pretty much anything to do with summer!

Lisa graduated from Acadia University in 1994, and then completed a dietetic internship at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Her career started with Food Service Contract companies, first as a Food Service Director then as a Senior Manager. She then moved a role as a Dietitian in Long Term Care. Lisa also provides contract services as an Administrative Dietitian with Public Health. Her background is very diverse – with experiences in clinical, administration, food service and public health. She has a strong interest in nutrition, health and fitness.

Christina is a clinical dietitian based out of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in beautiful Lunenburg, NS. Her areas of work are vast and include both inpatient and outpatient counselling. Christina works with the Diabetes Education Centre and is a part of the Seniors’ Community Health Team.


Christina is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and provides breastfeeding support to families through the South Shore Collaborative Breastfeeding Network. She is also a fitness instructor specializing in group fitness.

Hayley is an In-Store Dietitian with Atlantic Superstore servicing the Bridgewater and Liverpool stores. She graduated from Mount St. Vincent University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition and completed the Integrated Internship Program. With many years of food retail experience, she is familiar with grocery aisles and latest trends in food and nutrition. Available services include; individual and group grocery store tours, store floor food demonstrations, one-on-one nutrition consultations, colleague wellness, and group classes on a variety of topics including; weight and chronic disease management, food intolerance and allergies, and much more. Educating children about food and nutrition is one of her passions. In Hayley’s personal time, she loves to actively explore the beautiful province of Nova Scotia in any way I can – hiking, kayaking, cycling, and camping; she is passionate about fitness.

After completing a Science Degree in Chemistry and Biology from Saint Mary’s University, Jessica pursued an Applied Human Nutrition Degree in Dietetics at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax and started practicing as a Dietitian in 2017. She started a private practice, counseling clients and delivering information via e-counseling. This medium
of counseling enables clients to receive information from a location convenient for them. Although she has a wide spectrum of education in nutrition, Jessica's focus is weight management and overall healthy eating. Jessica’s practice is client centered which enables her to deliver a counseling style and meal planning that is best suited for her clients.

 

Jessica is also a volunteer member for the continuing competency program (CCP) committee at the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association (NSDA) and an active member of NS Dietitians for Health Insurance Coverage (NSDHIC).

Jennifer Garus, PDt

Jennifer is the executive manager of the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association (NSDA), the provincial dietetic regulatory body. She has been in this role since 2007 and her role involves: competency development, legislative change, board governance, organizational management, project management, and the core functions associated with professional regulation. Prior to this, she practiced as a clinical and community dietitian in several provinces in a variety of practice settings, which included an outpatient department and small hospital, long-term care facilities, industry, home care, private practice, public health, and telehealth. Her past dietetic experience has been especially relevant to the development of practice standards, competencies, and most recently, NSDA’s jurisprudence e-learning module. Jennifer is currently completing her Masters of Science in Applied Human Nutrition program at MSVU. Her thesis relates to professional ethics and she draws on her experiences in the writing of an autoethnography.

I have practiced dietetics for over 14 years and I have worked in various roles and places.
I worked with Loblaw's as a Grocery Store Dietitian for 5 years. I worked with the IWK Health Center on the Rehab and Brain Injury Response Teams. I have experience with Ketogenic diets and pediatric clinical nutrition. Currently I support the Provincial Hospitals' Food and Nutrition Services. Over 18 facilities use Vision Software to manage the departments, including inventory management, patient food service and clinical nutrition support. I have been in this role for 6 years; I love the challenge of implementing technology to support food and nutrition services and I enjoy working with fellow dietitians and managing projects.

Jackie has been a dietitian since 1996 and has enjoyed working in Clinical Pediatrics, Public Health, Primary Health Care and Academia. In her current position as the Dietitians of Canada, Regional Executive Director for the Atlantic Provinces, Jackie has the opportunity to work with dietitians from across the 4 Atlantic Provinces to promote the profession and advocate for advancing health through food and nutrition. She loves having the opportunity to see the diversity of roles that professional dietitians are in and the dedication and passion they have for the profession.  Jackie completed a BSc at St FX, a dietetic internship at the Toronto Hospital and a MSc at Mount Saint Vincent University.
